The Family Jewels, 2000

Nichelson completed his Japanese works around 1998 and in 2000 began a ten year long series of 1920-30’s travel trailers, completing twenty-two trailers and one trailer park office. The trailers reflect Nichelson’s love of design and the early trailers had multiple interesting shapes. Each trailer had an interior conceived and built after the trailer was completed. The themes are generally social commentary. This first trailer is bright orange and eye catching and inside are antique handmade tools that form a sort of family album of a simpler time.
